The Brandon Aiyuk saga in San Francisco has ended and the standout wide receiver is staying put with a new contract in tow.

Brandon Aiyuk and the 49ers have agreed to terms on a four-year, $120 million extension with $76 million in guarantees. After a training camp and preseason holdout then hold-in, the two sides agreed on a deal with the regular season one week away.

Aiyuk, 26, sat out practice on Wednesday but now with an extension the 49ers have one of their top players back in time to start another run in the NFC this season.

“At some point, you’ve got to play,” 49ers general manager John Lynch told reporters on Wednesday.  The Cameroonian receiver has been seeking an extension for several months and has been the subject of trade talks since the NFL Draft in April and after the 49ers took a wide receiver in the draft, speculation increased about a possible trade to New England or Pittsburgh.

Now with a new deal, Aiyuk will be making $120 million in total value putting him sixth among receivers in the league and a $30 million average annual value.

Coming off a season in which he had a career high 1,342 yards and 75 receptions and seven touchdowns for a second straight 1,000 yard season, Aiyuk has shown immense growth in his first four years in the league and more will be expected from him this season.
