Onuachu wins Turkish Golden Boot

Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu and İstanbul Başakşehir forward Eldor Shomurodov finished the 2025/26 Turkish Süper Lig season as joint winners of the Golden Boot after ending the campaign with 22 goals apiece.

The pair emerged as the league’s most prolific scorers, edging out a competitive field that included fellow Nigerian international Victor Osimhen and Fenerbahçe forward Anderson Talisca.

Onuachu enjoyed a standout season for Trabzonspor, leading the club’s attack with a series of decisive performances. The Nigerian striker scored 22 league goals, consistently finding the net in key matches and establishing himself as one of the division’s most dangerous forwards throughout the campaign.

His impressive form drew praise from the Nigeria Football Federation, which commended the striker’s consistency and clinical finishing during a memorable season in Turkey.

Shomurodov matched Onuachu’s tally of 22 goals to claim a share of the Golden Boot after producing one of the finest campaigns of his career for İstanbul Başakşehir. The Uzbekistan international played a pivotal role in his side’s attacking success and maintained his scoring touch from start to finish.

Fenerbahçe’s Anderson Talisca finished third in the scoring charts with 19 goals, while Osimhen ended the season with 15 league goals. Despite arriving in Turkey amid considerable expectations and delivering several influential performances, the former Napoli striker was unable to keep pace with the league’s leading marksmen during the closing stages of the season.

Galatasaray forward Mauro Icardi also featured prominently among the division’s top scorers, finishing with 14 league goals for the Istanbul club.

The race for the Golden Boot remained tightly contested for much of the campaign, with several players challenging for top spot at various stages. However, a strong finish from both Onuachu and Shomurodov ultimately saw the duo pull clear of their rivals and finish level atop the scoring standings.

For Onuachu, the achievement further enhances his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most dependable attacking talents in European football, capping off a season that showcased his goalscoring ability and importance to Trabzonspor’s success.
